    2. Stan was born in Spokane, Wash., to Reverend Edward and Lydia Aschenbrenner. As a child he lived in small towns across Oregon, graduating from Grants Pass High School in 1947. He played football and was an outstanding scholar earning a scholarship to Willamette University, where he met and, 31 years later, married his wife, Jackie. Stan was the Willamette Student Body president and lived his life by the Willamette motto "Not for ourselves alone are we born."
      Stan served as an Air Force radar specialist. In 1956, he moved to Minnesota where he ran the technical documentation department for Control Data. Colleagues remember him as a compassionate leader.
